Well we've finally made it to week 9 of the SFCCL.
Unfortunately, we lost many members from the previous week, 6 in total. We are still 20 players strong (40 fighters). I believe we may lose a couple more this week.
It's becoming clear that many players are moving onto new games or have stopped playing SF4 completely. As a result, the League has been adversely impacted. Week 9 had the most forfeits than any other week so far, mostly due to the 6 players (12 fights) that dropped out. However, the SILVER Divsion was completely embarrassing. Not one SINGLE fight took place in Week 8. All matches were decided by forfeits.
The much anticipated 2v2 SFCCL tournament was also disappointing. Only 6 players showed up, and 2 dropped out shortly thereafter. The remaining 4 players played out the round-robin tourney. The League prizes for 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place will be exercised in Week 10.
Hopefully these trends are not going to continue, but the League will have to change some things in order to continue into the future. I have some ideas that will help, but of course, nothing will work if all the members of the League don't play their matches or particiapte in League events. My original expectations for the League were to have the members create a new community of SF4 players. Unfortuantely, that has yet to happen & will continue to be a problem if we ever expect the League to flourish.
Onto some better news...
Week 9 of the SFCCL is a unique week in that the SILVER Divsion and BRONZE division are fighting each other in inter-division fights. The winner of each fight will make up the new SILVER division while the loser of each fight will go to the BRONZE division. The last inter-division fights proved to be very popular. In theory, this week's matches give the opportunity for the newer members to move up to the higher divisions. GOLD and WHITE divisions are having their normal weekly fights.
Good luck to all.
