Cravin456's RYU defeated ModeType_Beast's T. HAWK in the Finals of Super Brawl II 3 matches to 2. (Note - final match of tournament is a best 3 out of 5 matches). I'm dying to get a replay of this match as the count by itself attests to its grand nature. Both members did mentioned they suffered from lag, which is unfortauntely expected since Cravin456 is in England and ModeType_Beast is from Louisana.
Cravin also particpated in the second Ryder Cup tournament during Week 16. While the Americas Team was able to win again (USA! USA! USA!), Cravin456's Ryu holds two distinictive records in Ryder Cup history. His Ryu is the only European fighter to advance past the 2nd round of the tournament, and his Ryu is the only European fighter to have a winning record in Ryder Cup competition (3-1). He was defeated by former Grand Champion Zabi's VIPER in the 4th round. The Ryder Cup tournament was for bragging rights as to which region's champion would be called the "Grand Champion of the SFCCL". While he may not have earned that title by winning the Ryder Cup, Cravin456's RYU has now earned that title as the final Grand Champion of season two by winning Super Brawl II. He becomes the first ever European Grand Champion.
Last but certainly not least, there is one more just as important announcement. The European Region will launch tomorrow! And Cravin456's RYU will be a part of the new season!
All 15 spots have now been locked in. Special thanx to Hedr1984, Helnova, CorridorsOfTime, and SabishiiRyuu for making this happen. They were the ones instrumental in getting enough players to signup for a third season and keeping the old SF4Forums.com community alive on 2DFIGHTERS.NET. As a result, I am now working on the schedules for the 30 fighters competing in the European Region for season three. Below is the list of members, and fighters competing in season 3:
1. Alienbuddha (Germany) - (Blanka, Yun)
2. Altermore (England) - (Gen, T. Hawk)
3. BigJJBoycey (England) - (Blanka, Ryu)
4. Bl1nk-_ (England) - (Fei Long, Akuma)
5. CorridorsOfTime (Netherlands) - (Ken, Guy)
6. Couchfighter4 (Norway) - (Guile, Gouken)
7. Cravin456 (England) - (Ryu, Rose)
8. ExilKubaner (England) - (Guile, Chun Li)
9. Hedr1984 (Poland) - (Vega, Blanka)
10. Helnova (England) - (Akuma, Vega)
11. Jamheald (England) - (Yang, Sakura)
12. Perkuta (Finland) - (Sagat, Yang)
13. Shooryukenn (England) - (Blanka, Guile)
14. SpiritRaptor (England) - (M. Bison, Vega)
15. Subes88 (Finland) - (Hakan, Dee Jay)
The European Region will be structured just like the current Americas Region. There will only be one conference, but there will still be two divisions. Half of the main figthers will be in one division and the other half in another division. Each figher will have a 14-match schedule to be played at the member's own pace. Despite starting two weeks after the Americas Region, the regular season will end on Dcember 2nd, 2011. The top 8 fighters from each division will advance to the Super Brawl III tournament. The final 16 fighters will than battle it out to become the European Champion. This gives European members 18 weeks to meet up with their 14 opponents to play 2 matches each. Due to their smaller number, every European member will play each other during the season. The European Region will have their own sub-pages on the site (Members Database, Schedules, Division Standings, and Videos) just like the Americas Region. Hopefully, I should have all the information posted by tomorrow afternoon.
European members will be allowed to play during the 3 live events this year (War Games, Survivor Series, and Fall Brawl). Final times and dates are still pending. Super Brawl III will now have two separate tournaments to end the season. The Europeans will play their own, smaller tournament (16 fighters) with the winner advancing to play the Americas Region winner. This final match of the season will crown out 3rd season Grand Champion of the SFCCL. Finally, with the existence of a European Region, we can possibly have additional Ryder Cup matches. I need to work on the final details, but I think most members would like the opportunity to play members from across the pond. Due to the new format, only bragging rights would be at stake since the title of "Grand Champion" is now reserved for the winner of Super Brawl. Again, I need to work out the details, but I think the top 2 fighters from the 4 Americas Region divisions could make up the 8 fighters necessary to form the Americas Team. For the European Team, the top 4 fighters in their 2 divisions would qualify. Let me know if you guys would be interested in bringing back the Ryder Cup!
Once again, congratulations to CRAVIN456's RYU for winning Super Brawl II 65 days after it started. And we all look forward to seeing him battle it out in another season in the European Region of the SFCCL!
EDIT CORRECTION - In previous posts, I forgot to include Cravin's loss to Zabi in the Ryder Cup when calculating his record with Ryu. His record entering Super Brawl II should be (15-2), and with his six wins in the tournament, his final record for season two should be (21-2). Very impressive!
