Xenon5100’s Blanka (18-0) was successful in defeating GuurenLagen’s Makoto (12-2) in the Eastern Conference Finals 2 matches to 0. He then advanced to the Grand Championship match versus the Western Conference Champion, Haduken3’s Rufus (16-2), after he defeated Xx_Von_xX’s Ken (20-1). The Grand Championship match was a best 3 out of 5 match. Haduken’s Rufus was winning 2 matches to 1 with only one round remaining to clinch the SFCCL Championship. However, Xenon’s Blanka was able to win that match-point round, and force a 5th, winner-take-all set for the Grand Championship. There, Xenon was able to win the final set 3 rounds to 1 with an Ultra finish to claim his second Super Brawl championship.
At the conclusion of season one, Xenon (known as Scarface13 prior to the Great PSN Crash of 2011) won the biggest Super Brawl tournament to date and finished the season with a (13-1) record. He joined the league late in season one (Week 19 out of 25).
What makes this season’s win a bit more special is in part because he is the first member to win two Super Brawl tournaments. This season’s tournament was the smallest, but started off with better competition since only the Top 48 fighters reached the tournament. More importantly, Xenon’s Blanka’s final record for the season, a perfect (18-0), is the first-time we’ve ever had a member go undefeated thru a complete season in league history.
Below are videos of the Final Four matches as well as the classic match between Xenon & Haduken. This ends another great season of the SFCCL. Despite some of the participation problems, I am very proud we were able to complete yet another season with a great Super Brawl tournament. The competition was really great in the tournament as the best of every member came out. The Final Four was a great group of members that truly represented the league both in class and skill. Now…I can breathe. I plan to write one more blog about the SFCCL and possible future plans, but I will hold off for a later date. For now, I just want to enjoy this conclusion.
Once again, congratulations to Xenon’s Blanka for winning his second Super Brawl tournament, and for being crowned the Grand Championship of season three.
