For those still in the dark, FALL BRAWL is the only special event in which all members & fighters participate in since it is conducted within a normal league week. However, not that normal since this league week is spread over 21 days in hopes of having all matches complete. Why? Because every division is playing in a 16-fighter, single elimination tournament. The results of the tournament winners and losers will be used to re-rank all divisions. The winner of each divisional tournament will earn a valuable Prize Match. Each division winner will become the division champion and will earn the right to challenge any fighter 2 divisions higher than their own. For example, the winner of the Bronze Division will earn the right to challenge any fighter in the Gold Division for their ranking. The winning fighter takes the Gold ranking and the losing fighter of the Prize Match then falls to the Bronze Division. "Worth playing for? Then let's get started!"
Since the Gold Division is the top division, the winner of the Gold tournament will become the Grand / Gold Champion of the SFCCL and their Prize Match will instead be a Rematch Clause that can be used anytime following a defeat for their championship. The Silver Division winner can only challenge the Gold Division, and similar, the Blue Division winner can only challenge the Red Division. The new Green Division winner will have the right to challenge any fighter in the Red Division for their ranking.
Each round does have a time limit to play all matches. This is an unnecessary evil to keep all tournaments moving forward to a final conclusion. All Fall Brawl matches are best 2 out of 3 five-round matches. Report all results (win or loss) to me directly to get credit for playing. Below are the deadlines for each round:
1st round matches must be completed by Thursday, November 25th (10 days for 8 matches)
2nd round matches must be completed by Wednesday, December 1st (6 days for 4 matches)
3rd & Final round matches must be completed by Sunday, December 5th (5 days for 3 matches)
Week 10 is officially closed. It proved to be another bad week as we had the 2nd lowest match completion percentage so far this season. As a result, 9 members have been dropped from the league or left on their own. Stats below.
Despite the possibility of certain members in the C Division & Blue Division losing one of their fighters as a result of the C Division vs. Waiting List matches last week, all losing fighters are in the league as a result of the 9 members (18 fighters) leaving. I gave my word to all the members playing those crucial matches that their losing, ousted fighters would be first to join the league if any openings become available. Fortunately, we had more than enough openings to bring back all those fighters, albeit at the bottom of the C division.
Congratulations to the European Region as a third division had been added, the Green Division. It is the entry division for all European members/fighters. There was always an offer to create more European divisions if it could be supported by enough members (8 members / 16 fighters). To their credit, the current European members did their best to get some new signups, and thus, filled the Waiting List enough to support a third division. Originally, the division was to be called the White Division; however, that is the unofficial color of the A, B, and C divisions. Also, if the European region grows more, the new divisions will also share that unofficial white color, so the Green Division seemed most appropriate. Congratulations again, and to all the new members, welcome to the SFCCL.
The new division has increased our total member count to a season-high 72 members (144 fighters) and increased the number of weekly matches to 72.
WEEK 10 RECAP
As mentioned, we had a bad week last week. A total of 24 matches had to be "Decided" to close Week 10. Twelve of those twelve matches were forfeits, which occurs when one member did not play their 2 matches. Seven matches ended in a "Draw" as a result of two members unable to play one of their matches, which is still better than a 'forfeit' any day. Finally, five matches ended in a Double-Forfeit. Below are the final stats:
Completed matches: 53 out 77 (69%)
Forfeited matches: 12 out of 77 (16%)
Draw matches: 7 out of 77 (9%)
Double Forfeit matches: 5 out of 77 (6%)
OLD, NEW, & CHANGING MEMBERS
Nine members were dropped from the Americas Region following Week 10 (none from the European region) as a result of inactivity or voluntary removing. Those members were:
Bx-Fr3sh (New York), JJ_King_ (Iowa), Never1nothing (Massachusetts), Novalks (Florida), Slingshotjones (Virginia), Tigerz_Bone_21 (Canada), VainHero (California), xxUltimaCloudxx (Canada), & Normalcey (Canada)
I thank everyone for their interest in the league and wish them the best. CUBY, MARCOPOLO177, and TOKENLUIS have all completed their 3-week probationary period for new members. Welcome officially to the SFCCL, guys!
As a result of the nine vacancies, most spots were occupied by existing member's losing fighters from the C Division and Blue Divisions. We only have one new official member in the Americas Region and 5 new official members in the European Region:
New Members for the Americas Region:
PUTTHATCOFFEEDWN (Connecticut)
New Members for the European Region:
CRAVIN (England)
HERKULESHULK (Finland)
JONNYHALLSWORTH (England)
KEMONOWANI (Finland)
TG_RAMPAGE_TG (England)
All three members were invited to join the active roster from the Waiting List after "Reserving" their spots.
NOTE - A "Reserved" notation by their name on the Waiting List means they have given me their commitment to join when an opening becomes available. A player can join only if there is an opening, which is why there are several other members still on the Waiting List with a "Reserved" tag. All new members are subject to the 3-week probationary period which requires all members to play all of their matches in the first there weeks, or they will be dropped from the league.
Special mention is worth noting to the new members of the league that "earned" their way into the league by winning the match last week versus a C Division or Blue Division fighter:
TheReal_Mr_Karat (Juri, Makoto)
FrotoTeaBaggin (Guile)
DenaycousDee_85 (El Fuerte)
Jok3rfrmbk (Cammy)
Killawaun (Dee Jay, Balrog)
Shoryuken (Cammy)
Sweet_Poison_ (Vega)
To1v11v1y (Bison)
Qn-Lisa (Ken, Zangief)
Invisigoth47 (Seth, Bison)
Welcome to the SFCCL!
Members changing fighters:
Deltron2020 VIPER to RUFUS (Gold Division to C Division by request)
BPKing ADON to T. HAWK (Bronze Division to A Division)
Wauhti MAKOTO to SAKURA (Blue Division to Green Division)
Mr_Flowers_- JURI to BISON (Blue Division to Green Division)
Rudeboy_2Deep GEN to ADON (Blue Division to Green Division)
CorridorsofTime SETH to GUY (Blue Division re-entry)
Any member in the league can change their fighter, but it will result in a penalty of the new fighter dropping one division and starting at the #15 ranking.
Two members changed their PSN screen name:
FADC_Mabans to oOMABANSOo
Ryukenishida to HorrorSharkJaws
The following 'Auto-Promotions' occurred as a result of the former members and change of fighter (note - depending on where the vacant spot is in the division, not all fighters take advantage of the auto-promotions):
GOLD Division: 2 spots
SILVER Division: 2 spots
BRONZE Division: 6 spots
A Division: 7 spots
B Division: 12 spots
C Division: 13 spots
RED Division: none
BLUE Division: 3 spots
GREEN Division: 5 new members
Any fighters that did not play their matches do not benefit and could see other fighters jump them in the rankings. It pays to play.
THE WAITING LISTS
Going into Week 11, the Americas Region list is 21 members strong. the European Region list is now empty as a result of the newly created division.
Reminder - any player on the Waiting List that is 100% sure they want to join upon an opening becoming available, then be sure to let me know you want to "Reserve" a spot. Then I'll more your name to the top of the list. Otherwise your name will be added to bottom of the Waiting List and you'll have to wait for an invite like everyone else.
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
There are too many to list since we are going to be playing multiple rounds of matches during Fall Brawl. It will be interesting to see how many (if any) divisions have the Division Champion and #1 Contender still meet up in the finals of each tournament. This is a great opportunity for every fighter in the league to take a big jump in rankings, or at least, defend their top ranking in their division. All fighters have a mark on their back as everyone wants to climb to the top of the rankings. Fall Brawl allows this to happen.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
FALL BRAWL is the only time a league week will be spread over 21 days. Normally, it only lasts 14 days. Fall Brawl is also the second to last special event this calendar year. The final event in 2010 will be the 2vs2 Tournament to be held during Week 13 (beginning December 20th).
Coming up in Week 16 (beginning January 31st, 2010), we will have both the return of the War Games and the second Ryder Cup competition.
Finally, you may have notice the SFCCL header logo change above as well as the Fall Brawl logo. I'd like to publically thank SHINNAGAKURE from England for all of the designs. He volunteered to create some logo for the SFCCL, including the original logo for season two. And he did all of this without ever playing in the league. Last week, he did take part in the interdivisional matches to earn his way into the Blue Division, but came up short unfortunately. As a result of sampling the weekly routine of playing matches, he respectfully declined to join as the new Green Division was created due to time contraints. Nonetheless, he is valuable member to this community as his artwork and designs will defintely make this place look better! I'm an ultra ametuer when it comes to graphics, as my best program is Paint! Thanx again, SHIN, for all of the cool designs.
DEADLINE FOR WEEK 11 - FALL BRAWL
