This week's website update has gone very well compared to all the problems I encountered last week. Week 6 is now history. Another successful week that saw the crowning of a brand new Grand Champion of the SFCCL, Zti890's CAMMY. Also, we had the smallest turnover last week thus far this season. More details below. Overall, 81% of the scheduled matches were completed, which is the same as Week 5 and ties for 3rd highest percentage this season.
WEEK 6 RECAP
A total of 12 matches had to be decided to close Week 6. Six of those twelve matches were forfeits, which occurs when one member does not play their 2 matches. A record-high of five matches ended up in a "Draw" as a result of two members unable to play one of their matches, which is still better than a 'forfeit' any day. Finally, one match ended in a Double-Forfeit. Below are the final stats:
Completed matches: 52 out 64 (81%)
Forfeited matches: 6 out of 64 (9%)
Draw matches: 5 out of 64 (8%)
Double Forfeit matches: 1 out of 64 (2%)
OLD, NEW, & CHANGING MEMBERS
this week had the lowest amount of turnover so far this season with only 2 members leaving the league following Week 6. Both members voluntarily left, Palmerfan from New Jersey & Suikakuyju from Germany. I wish to thank them for their commitment to playing & for the courtesy of letting me know. No members were kicked out of the league this week. Finally, seven members that joined in Week 4 have fulfilled their 3-week probationary period, which means they have been successful in playing their matches the past three weeks. Now, they will be subject to the standard 2-weeks-of-no-shows rule before getting kicked out, but hopefully that won't happen. Welcome GuurenLagen, King-Sun, FADC_Mabans, OsiSii, Raziel_Sinister, Galstafflol, and JamusAeons.
As a result of the two vacancies, we have 2 new members/4 new fighters in the league (1 in the Americas Region, 1 in the Euro Region):
New Members for the Americas Region:
JAY19000 (Florida)
New Members for the European Region:
HOOKO28 (Iceland)
Both members were invited to join the active roster from the Waiting List after "Reserving" their spots. A "Reserved" notation by their name on the Waiting List means they have given me their commitment to join when an opening becomes available. A player can join only if there is an opening, which is why there are several other members still on the Waiting List with a "Reserved" tag. No PSN message was sent this week inviting any Waiting List members since the two openings were taken by the "Reserved" players. Welcome to the SFCCL!
Members changing one of their fighters:
Ryukenishida M. BISON to AKUMA
Anakiny2k JURI to RYU
Subes88 ADON to T. HAWK
Wauhti SAKURA to MAKOTO
Any member in the league can change their fighter, but it will result in a penalty of the new fighter dropping one division and starting at the #15 ranking.
The following 'Auto-Promotions' occurred as a result of the 2 openings were limited (note - depending on where the vacant spot is in the division, not all fighters take advantage of the auto-promotions):
GOLD Division: 0 spots
SILVER Division: 0 spots
BRONZE Division: 1 spot
A Division: 2 spots
B Division: 2 spots
C Division: 2 spots
Red Division: 2 spots
Blue Division: 2 spots
Any fighters that did not play their matches do not benefit and could see other fighters jump them in the rankings. It pays to play.
THE WAITING LISTS
Going into Week 7, the Waiting List have a total of 36 players on them, with 4 "Reservations". My friends list is right now sitting at 99 friends total, so I'm nearly maxed out. I would be nice if the PSN Plus would increase your Friends List, and then I would be inclined to purchase a membership. Until then, any new signups may not receive a FR until I can make some room. Thanx again for the support guys!
Reminder - any player on the Waiting List that is 100% sure they want to join upon an opening becoming available, then be sure to let me know you want to "Reserve" a spot. Then I'll more your name to the top of the list. Otherwise your name will be added to bottom of the Waiting List and you'll have to wait for an invite like everyone else.
I also want to make one thing clear - my commitment to running this league is to the active members playing each week. Not the Waiting List. I'll be happy to accommodate anyone there, but just understand it's not my priority. To all active members: be sure to play your matches every week so you don't get dropped from the league. I can attest to the fact that there are plenty of players on the Waiting List dying to get into the league and take your spot if you don't want it.
Again, no plan for another Free-For-All event as I like the number of members and divisions currently.
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Euro Red Division Championship
Champion ORKANMUOH23 DHALSIM (6-0) vs. #1 Contender SHOORYUKENN BLANKA (3-0)
This week's MOTW is once again in the Euro Region. The current Euro Champion, Orakanmuoh23 DHALSIM (6-0), battles #1 Contender Shooryukenn BLANKA (3-0). Both of these fighters quickly rose to the top of the Euro Divisions since its creation in Week 4. Orkanmuoh's Dhalsim remains as the only Euro Division Champion to date since its creation in Week 4 and has defended the Title for the past 3 weeks. He is also one of the few remaining undefeated fighters this season. He joined the SFCCL back in Week 18 of the first season and hails from Germany. Orkanmuoh23's Dhalsim is ranked 292nd in Capcom's character Battle Points with 7,141 points. While Orkanmuoh23's Dhalsim started as the Red Division Champion beginning in Week 4, Shooryukenn's Blanka joined the league with the creation of Euro Region in Week 4 and quickly rose up the rankings. His first ranking was #9 in the Blue Division. By winning the Hot Match 8v9 that week, he jumped to #2 (after a one-spot auto promotion) to challenge the #2 fighter in the Red Division during Inter-Divisional matches in Week 5. Winning that match and the following 2v3 match in week 6 has resulted in Shooryukenn's Blanka as the #1 contender in the Red Division. Finally, going into Week 7, his Blanka is ranked #56 in the world in Capcom's character Battle Points with 14,259 points.
Other notable matches:
Gold Division: #8 Epedemicc GOUKEN (6-1) vs. #9 Deltron2020 RYU (5-1)
Bronze Division: Champion xxUltimaCloudxx RYU (3-0) vs. #1 Crusader884 KEN (3-1-1)
B Division: Champion FADC_Mabans CODY (3-0) vs. #1 King-Sun VEGA (3-0)
Just a reminder - the SURVIVOR SERIES event will take place this Friday night / Saturday morning on Friday, September 24th at 1:00 AM Eastern Time (technically Saturday, September 25th). This event is the 4vs4 team double-elimination tournament where each member creates their own 4-fighter team. A team is eliminated when all 4 fighters are defeated. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be awarded special Prize Matches similar to the War Games event. Again, this late night time was selected to cater to our west coast players who could not attend the last event, War Games, which was scheduled on a Saturday morning to benefit our Euro members. The event will promptly begin at 1:00 AM Eastern, 12 AM Central, and 10 PM Pacific.
Note - we will meet in the Gamer's Louge in HOME, so get your avatar ready. From there, for privacy, we may move to the SFCCL Clubhouse or my own personal space.
Finally, this is the first time ever we will be running the Ryder Cup Tournament, so I do expect some hiccups. Hopefully all involved members can find times to meet up & play, and hopefully lag is not a major problem. Any feedback is strongly encouraged as I hope to have two more Ryder Cup Tournaments this season.
DEADLINE FOR WEEK 7
Deadline for all Week 7 matches is Sunday, October 3rd, 2010.
Good luck to all members in Week 7!
