The tourney was a spur-of-the-moment thing I wanted to put together as a model for the next official 2v2 tourney. At the time, 8 SFCCL members were online so I sent a Text Chat invite out in hopes of putting together a mini-event. Fortunately, all responded and wanted to play. Teams were assembled randomly by pairing up members alphabetically. The tourney was a basic double elimination 2-player tournament. Matches were limited to one 5-round match. The team battles were Survivor-Series style in that both members of a team needed to be defeated in order for the other team to claim victory. If a member from each team won their first match, they would face each other to determine the winning team.
VIETNAMAZING was able to defeat 3 teams by himself as XxUltimaCloudxX happily “watched”. Notice I said congrats to Vietnamazing, not the team of Vietnamazing & UltimaCloud! I’m sure UltimaCloud is waiting for an “official” event to showcase his skills. :P As far as I know, Vietnamazing didn’t lost one match mowing down pretty much everyone last night. Fun was had by all and hopefully something we can do more of in the future. Since everyone in the League is on my Friends List, I’ll be sure to invite everyone whenever we do another such event. The following members participated last night:
Vietnamazing & XxUltimaCloudxX
ElGeneral & Manwithnoarms
Cynistar & ClubAmerica
SALonghorn & Meieden
All are current members with the exception of ClubAmerica who will join in Week 14. However, let this be a warning to all above Vietnamazing's Cammy in the rankings......he's coming......and he's good......very good. And a classy dude to boot.
Plans right now are to have an “Official” SFCCL 2v2 tournament event sometime in October. I want to be sure that when we do have the official event that everyone in the League knows about it well in advance. In order to make the teams random and fair, the event has to be a live event in which members must be present/online to participate. Prizes for the last 2v2 tournament (which haven’t been exercised yet) included the right to challenge any member in the League, no matter division or ranking. Winner takes the higher ranking while the loser gets the lower rank. 2nd prize was the right to challenge anyone in the next highest division with same results as above, while 3rd place was the right to challenge any spot in your own division. We’ll probably uses these same prizes for the next tourney as incentive. These official events are closed to SFCCL members only.
Thanx again for a fun night of street fighting guys!
BTW, ONLY 5 MORE DAYS TO COMPLETE YOUR MATCHES FOR WEEK 13 - TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd.
