SFCCL Season 4 Rules
Before signing up for the SFCCL, please understand you are giving your verbal commitment to play the full season
(June - December 2012)
The 4th season will begin on June 4th, 2012, and will end by December 2012. For some members, the season could be over by mid-November 2012 if their figthers do not qualify for the en-of-season-tournament known as SUPER BRAWL IV. The current league system provides plenty of flexibility for all members from the most active to the most time-challenged. Regular season matches can be played at your own pace.
All Members are required to use 2 different fighters
This is a rule that dates back to the first season of the league, but is still in use. Primarily, it offers every member to play as two different characters during the season. One character will be known as the MAIN fighter and the other the SECONDARY fighter. A member can change either fighter no more than two times during the season. Since players are likely to improve with a specific character or different characters, the rule of 2 fighters per member will limit how many changes occur compared to only using one fighter.
All league matches are best 2 out of 3 five-round matches unless noted
Report ALL match results directly to me via PSN message, email, SRK thread post, or SFCCL Facebook
All Members are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to add as many league members to their PSN Friends List
While it is impossible to require every member to do this, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED every member add all other members to their Friends List. This will allow for better and faster communication among members trying to meet up to play their matches throughout the season. It is REQUIRED that every member have my name (SFCCL-SALonghorn) on their PSN Friends List. This is also required to participate in the live tournaments online.
2 Divisions for all Members.
New to this season, there will only be two separate divisions. All members will have their two fighters split into one of the two divisions. half of the members' Main fighters will be placed in one division, while the other half of the Main fighters will be placed in the other division. The top 12 fighters (with the most number of wins) in each of the divisions will advance to the season-ending tournament, known as SUPER BRAWL IV. The season is officially over for all other fighters that do not qualify for the tournament. Every member will have matches against each of the other members of the league, one with each fighter. When meeting up online, if you only want to play one of your fighter's matches first, that is acceptable. Just remember to meet up with the member to play the secondary match at a later date.
Regular Season Schedule
Each fighter will have their own unique regular season schedule posted at the beginning of the season. Each member can play at their own pace at playing their matches. The regular season is scheduled to take place between June 4th and November 18th (total of 24 weeks to meet up with 19 other members). Some may choose to play their main fighter's matches first, and then play their secondary fighter's matches later. Some members may play their all of their matches early in the season, and some may play late in the season. The league format allows for both. If the majority of the matches are completed earlier than expected, additional matches may be added to lengthen the regular season. More matches may be added to all fighters' schedules if more players join the league. No mimumum number of matches need to be played nor do all matches need to to be played. If you don't play, your figthers will not have a chance to qualify for the end-of-season tournament.
Depending on the total number of members, the number of matches per fighter will vary as the season progresses.
This format also allows members to take a 'leave of abscence'. To attend to 'real life' matters, a member may not play for a specific time period. Just let me (SFCCL-SALonghorn) know so I can communicate the information to other members. No penalty willl occur and matches can be resumed anytime before the end of the regular season.
Note - to qualify for the SUPER BRAWL IV tournament, a fighter must be one of the top 12 fighters in their respecitive division. For ties, the standings ranks will be in the following order:
1. Total number of wins
2. Winning percentage
3. Winner of head-to-head matchup
4. Total number of matches completed
5. Member name
Season-Ending Tournament (Super Brawl IV)
The top fighters in each division will advance to the season-ending tournament. The single elimination tournament will begin on November 19th, 2012. The winning fighter advances to the next round of the tournament. The final match will crown the Grand Champion for the season. This final match is a best 3 out of 5 five-round match. At the end of the season, in case of a tie among fighter's records, the winner of the head-to-head match will advance. Seeding for the tournament will come from two divisions.
New Members encouraged to signup throughout the season.
Everyone is encouraged to join the SFCCL. The league is free to join and free to play. It is a 100% volunteer league. The deadline to signup for the beginning of the season is Sunday , May 27th, 2012. Following that, any new members will have to wait no more than two weeks to be officially added to the league. This delay allows for the necessary time to setup the website for the beginning of the season. Signups will no longer be taken after Week 21 (October 22, 2012) since there would only be 4 weeks remaining in the regular season, which would not be enough time for a new member to play (and win) enough matches to qualify for the SUPER BRAWL IV tournament.
Limited Change of Fighters
A member can still change their fighter during the season, but changes will be limited. For this 4th season, a member may change each of their fighters two times during the season. All played matches will still count towards the new fighter's overall. No played matches can be replayed. And obviously, you can't change a fighter's division. You can only play the remaining matches on your schedule. The wins and losses of the previous fighter will remain part of the new fighter's record. No penalty for changing fighters prior to the season beginning.
New Webpages for Members Portal, Standings, & Schedules
Full schedules, results, and division standings will be posted under their own webpages on this site. The pages will be updated as results come in on a daily basis. Look for blog updates that list additional information and possible results. The Members Portal will contain statisitics and useful data for all cuurent members, including online Grade and Battle Points for members/fighters.
Special Live Tournaments / Events
The popular Special Live Events will return this season. Winners of the 5 live events planned for the season will receive an additional "win" for each of their division fighters for 1st place. No awards for runners-up. What this extra "win" does is obviously improve your standings in the division, and thus, your chances of making the season-ending SUPER BRAWL IV tournament. Therefore, winning these live events is still important as they could push your fighter(s) into the playoffs and possibly into a higher seed which would create an easier opening round matchup. Winners of the live events cannot play in any other events during the season.
HONOR SYSTEM
Since the first season of the SFCCL, all members MUST abide by the simple Honor System. Simply put...honor your losses as you honor your wins. Any case of a member lying about their match results will be automatically banned from the league. In the history of the league, 4 members have been permanently banned for lying about their match. This league requires all members to be truthful and honest. There is a zero tolerance for this final and most important rule.
RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS
Another rule that dates back to the first season. Please act professionally and respectfully to your fellow league players. We are all here to have a good time. That can be ruined quickly by one 'bad apple'. Normal jabbing and joking is fine, but not if it becomes harrassing or offensive. Members will (and have been) removed from the league for violating this rule.
