With that being said, the website is officially 100% complete! I've added more useful data to the Members Database page, like the member's Player Points and Battle Points for each character. Now someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Capcom leader boards only rank the top 5,000 player whether it is Player Points or Battle Points. So if you don't see your name listed anywhere that would be the reason. Don't feel too bad as my name doesn't show up anywhere either. The Player Points, for what their worth, can at least give us an indication of the best players in the league. And more importantly, the Battle Points for each character is an invaluable tool for all members to look at as it lists the best members in the league for each character. So if a particular character (like Balrog) is giving you a lot of problems, this data gives you a list of the best members in the league who use those characters. Or if your matchup this week is against a particular character, the character lists will give you a chance to contact other members about how to fight against that character, or just the opposite, give you the name of other members who use the same character you are using. These lists may not be updated every week as they are a pain to type out and then paste to the website. The lists only include those active members only - no Waiting List players yet. However, if and when new members join the league, I'll do my best to update the lists.
Please note the specifics of Week 1:
* Division matches
* All league matches are best 2 out of 3 five-round matches (use the Endless Battle mode to play 1v1 - private slots recommended)
* Week 1 deadline to play all matches is SUNDAY, JULY 11th
* Please contact me if you are having any difficulties or your opponent doesn't reply to your messages
This season will hopefully be even better than season 1. The Members Database should be a very useful tool to all members and potential members. Also, by making every member in this league fully understand the commitment to play & contact your opponents every week, we should have a very competitive league where unplayed matches become the rarity. That being said, I'm proud to announce the following challenge to those 38 players interested in joining the league.
WAITING LIST FREE-FOR-ALL
The Waiting List was designed originally to keep all interested members in an organized queue in case any of the original 40 members dropped out or got kicked out of the league. As I began to receive the signup information via the website, I realized the level of interest in new players wanting to join season 2. I started to think about expanding the league to more than 40 members again. However, if I were to do this, I would approach the situation much differently than I did last season. In season 1, any player could join. No questions asked. I believe that was one of the major reasons we had so many no-shows every week. About 40% of the matches every week went unplayed, and had to be "decided". I DO NOT WANT TO REPEAT THAT MISTAKE AGAIN THIS SEASON.
Therefore, the only way a player will join the league automatically is when an existing member drops out & the first player on the waiting list is invited to join. I'll send them a PSN message (always keep 'SFCCL-SALonghorn' on your Friend's List) or email confirming their interest in joining & explaining the commitment involved. However, with the committed 40 members we currently have now, a player down the Waiting List may have to wait a long time to join, if ever. So, whenever the list gets too long, I will open up what will be known as a WAITING LIST FREE-FOR-ALL.
What the WAITING LIST FREE-FOR-ALL does is give every player on the Waiting List an even chance at entering the league, no matter their spot on the List. For Week 2, I will open up a new division (C Division). That division will be made up entirely by players currently on the Waiting List. However, only 8 players will join the league at a time during the Free-For-Alls. All a player must do is contact & play 3 other players on the Waiting List. The first 8 players to do this will be added to the league rankings for Week 2, which begins July 12th. So there is only 2 weeks to play these matches. It doesn't matter who wins or loses these Free-For-All matches only that they get played (best 2 out of 3 five-round matches). Each match counts once for each player. For example, if JOHN contacts MIKE to play a match, no matter the winner, both players will get credit for one match played. Both players must then play 2 other players to get their 3 matches completed, but each will get credit for one match played. The 8 new members will each have 2 fighters each, thus creating the 16-fighter C Division. Rankings will be given in a first-complete, first-ranked basis. A player's main fighter will be ranked first, and their 2nd fighter will be ranked no higher than #8. In essence, each player will have a fighter in the top half of the division and the lower half of the division.
NOTE - Only contact and play other players on the Waiting List. Do not contact any members on the Active Roster as they already have their responsibilities for the week. Each match should count for both players, not just one, so please give everyone a chance to join the league. An active member may volunteer to play, but only one of the three matches will be allowed versus an active member.
The reason I am asking the Waiting List players to do this task is simple. I want all new members to understand how this league (not tournament) works. We are all committed to playing our 2 matches each week, win or lose. No matter the result, we all understand we will have 2 new matches next week. Hopefully this task will help the new members get a feel how the league operates. I can only do so much. Each member is responsible for their matches and their participation in the league. Please send me the matched played via PSN message, and I can then obviously coordinate with the other player's list of matches played. This FREE-FOR-ALL ends the same day as Week 1 - SUNDAY, JULY 11th.
Any future FREE-FOR-ALLs will be announced when the Waiting List gets too long. So don't count on this event happening too often.
The Waiting List has been updated this morning. Of the 24 members originally left out of the league for season 2, only 6 confirmed their continued interest in joining the SFCCL. Four of those members have replaced the four members in the original Top 40 who never signed up, and the other 2 members are at the top of the Waiting List. The other 18 members have been dropped from the list.
Well, that's it! I got nothing else! Good luck to all members and players. Deadline for all matches is Sunday, July 11th.
