My apologies for not writing too much this week as I am short on time. My priority was to close Week 24 last night and post Week 25 rankings and matches today. My free time at home has recently decreased (for a great reason), so I’ll keep this short. Overall, we had a solid week, but there were few too many no-shows.
PREVIOUS WEEK RECAP: WEEK 24 Divisional Matches
WEEK 24 STATS:
Completed matches: 35 out of 74 (47%)
Forfeited matches: 27 out of 74 (37%)
Double forfeits: 7 out of 74 (9%)
Draw matches: 5 out of 74 (7%)
OLD & NEW MEMBERS
A total of 10 members have left the League following Week 24 (23 the past two weeks). Four members voluntarily dropped out (Chunbelievable, Kurokiba13, AuthenticBlaze, & GambitK). Most cited lack of time or desire for playing SFIV as their reason for leaving, but one cited their frustration in trying to contact their opponents and play their matches. The other 7 members were dropped due to two weeks of forfeits. As a result of these members & their fighters being removed from the rankings, the ‘Auto Promotions’ created to fill their rankings can range from 3 spots as high as the Silver Division to as many as 20 spots thru the E Division. The F Division has been eliminated.
Joining the SFCCL for Week 25 are 4 new members. Please join me in welcoming the following members: Snhakuma, RyuResurrection, Leagueofitsown, and former member, Zabi-.
The SFCCL is 65 members (130 fighters) strong going into Week 25.
MATCH OF THE WEEK
The MATCH OF THE WEEK (MOTW) for Week 25 is a SILVER DIVISION MATCH - #8 CCINOONE KEN (8-3) vs. #9 FLASHFAN7 BALROG (7-3). There are many other great fighters in the rankings, but they are not necessarily matched up against each other. CCINOONE has been mentioned before in a previous MOTW. His KEN fighter is tied for the best winning percentage of any Ken player in the League. CCINOONE is from the USA and joined the SFCCL in Week 15. He has played all but 2 of his matches with Ken, each ending in a forfeited win and loss. His other fighter, Bison, is in the Bronze Division. He is in the Top 5 in Grade Points and in the Top 10 in Battle Points among members in the SFCCL. FLASHFAN7 has steady moved up the rankings since joining the SFCCL back in Week 15 also. While his main fighter is Blanka (Gold Division #8), his Balrog has complied a solid record while playing all but one of his previous 10 fights (a forfeit win). Flashfan7 is also from the USA. Flashfan7 has one of the best participation records in the League, playing in 20 league fights with his 2 characters, and only winning 3 by forfeit.
Honorable MOTW mention also goes to the GOLD CHAMPIONSHIP match: xxULTIMACLOUDxx RUFUS (14-3) vs. DELTRON2020 RYU (8-3).
SFCCL ANNOUNCEMENTS & NEWS
Just a reminder, but Week 25 (February 22 – March 7th) will be the final weekly matches for season 1 of the SFCCL. The season-ending SUPER BRAWL Tournament will begin on March 8th.
Currently, with 65 members/130 fighters going into this week, the 1st round of the SUPER BRAWL tournament will only have 4 fighters playing. The two winners would then move onto the 2nd round to have a perfect 128 fighters competing. Of course, the final numbers will be known at the end of Week 25. New members will still be allowed to join the SFCCL but will obviously have to play in the 1st round of the SUPER BRAWL tournament. If we have another large number of members drop out this week, then the 2nd round number will be shortened to 64 fighters, since we might have less than 128 going into the SB tournament. If that is the case, the 1st round will have many more fighters in order to cut the league down to 64 fighters for the 2nd round. Basically, if the league shrinks more, we lose a round in the tournament. I’m not too concerned about that as it will leave us with more active, committed members while ‘cutting the fat’ from the League.
Again, I won’t know the final number of members until the end of Week 25, or Sunday, March 7th. I am really looking forward to the SUPER BRAWL tournament. While the rankings are not a perfect indicator of skill due to the fact that members join & leave each week, it will be interesting to see how many lower ranked fighters will advance thru the tournament.
For seeding purposes, the Gold Champion will be seeded #1. The rest of the seedings will go down the division rankings. For example, the #15 ranked Gold fighter will be seeded #16 and the Silver Champion will be seeded #17, the Bronze Champion will be #33, and so forth. The #1 seed will face the lowest seed in the 2nd round. That could be #128 or #64, depending on the total number of members/fighters. The rest of the seedings will follow this down-then-up system. Think March Madness for the NCAA Basketball tournament. Perhaps we’ll even do our own brackets! I will most likely post every fighter’s League record when I post the bracket.
DEADLINE FOR CURRENT WEEK
DEADLINE TO PLAY WEEK 25 MATCHES IS SUNDAY, MARCH 7th.
Good luck to everyone who plays their matches!
