Today marks the first time we will hold inter-divisional matches. I've mentioned them in the past, but this will be the first time that it is put into action.
The overall objective is to sort out the best fighters. The GOLD division is meant to hold the best fighters, however, that is an ever-changing concept, especially as members drop out and others join. The inter-divisional battles force players to either prove they are worthy of the division they play in or make players earn their way up the rankings & divisions.
While some matches may be easier than others (#6 vs #6 compared to champ vs champ), the makeup of each division will change. It may be easier to move up into another division by fighting a lower ranked fighter. The problem with that success is that once you are in a higher division, you'll have to face stronger competition including those higher ranked fighters. Even the fighters ranked below you theortically could be better than the higher ranked player in a lower division. Bottom line......you'll have to face toughter competition one way or another.
The last couple of weeks have been both fun and challenging. Fun in that we all get a new oppenent each week all the while improving our skills with each fight, whether they are League or online fights. Challenging in that we are still trying to get a consistent roster of players that play each week consistently. Eventually, we will get to that point of balance when we can move faster than we have been moving. I eagerly look forward to that day!
Good luck to all players in their inter-divisional matches. These matches are especially important as it gives everyone a chance to encounter new challengers in the SFCCL!
