The Inter-Divisional matches of Week 18 were very interesting, in terms of al the various activities occurring. Of the total 76 scheduled matches, 37 were completed normally (48%). Another 33 matches resulted in forfeits (43%), which was a direct result of several players dropping out. There were also a couple of draws and double-forfeits.
As for the Inter-Divisional matches, 28 out of the 64 matches resulted in the higher ranked fighter defending their spot against the lower divisional fighter. The lower-ranked fighter did win 25 matches however. The other matches ended up in the annoying draws, double-forfeits, etc. Honestly, please play your matches. Why join a League if you don’t play? But I digress...
We also lost 13 members. Seven of those members voluntarily dropped out (StylishCajun, Manwithnoarms, Urkelbot45, Kep84, Zabi-, Mykooo, & RTSDnightmare). The other 6 players were kicked out of the League for inactivity.
Going into Week 19, we do have 10 new members. Please join me in welcoming these new competitors: Focushin, Chunbelievable, Auzziegamer, Itsstrizzmatik, Deadlikelatin, Skrface13, Mowens, Crashblades, and a returning founding member, Devon202.
The long but entertaining Official 2v2 Tournament took place on Monday, November 23rd. Congratulations to the winners of Vietnamazing and xxUltimaCloudxx, and special thanx to CLOUD for running the ‘madhouse’. I really hope the new Super SFIV makes it easier to hold these special events. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams will get to exercise their ‘prizes’ for Week 20.
As for the current Week 19, we are 73 members (146 fighters) strong. This week returns to the standard weekly divisional matches. However, with the 13 members leaving the league from last week, everyone in the League will notice their fighters being ranked a little higher than expected, even those that lost last week. With the 13 members (and their 26 fighters) leaving, it created A TON of vacancies in the rankings, including 4 in the GOLD Division. Everyone who was active last week benefited from the many ‘auto-promotions’ as a result. Those that did not play were stuck to their rank and had other active fighters ‘leap frog’ them in the rankings. Be warned – if you did not play your matches last week, you will be dropped from the League if you do not play again this week.
Something new I may begin to do is the "Match of the Week". This would be a good opportunity to showcase a matchup between two great players/fighters who are doing well in the League and are facing each other in the current week. This is a match that I look forward to getting the results from, and everyone else should keep an eye on especially if we get video of the fight. This week's match to look for is in the BRONZE Division between #8 ranked Wild_X_187's ABEL (5-1) vs. #9 ranked Undeadsato BALROG (5-0). Both fighters have been moving up the rankings quickly, and both successfully defended their rankings in the A Division last week before getting auto-promoted to the Bronze Division this week. Both members have completed all of their matches since joing the League, and Wild_X's only loss with ABEL is the result of a mirror match with his other fighter, Akuma. Wild_X joined the SFCCL in Week 13, and Undeadsato joined a week later.
I do want to take the time to give a big Thank You to all of those active players who are doing their best to complete their matches every week. I greatly appreciate your commitment to the League and making it what it is today. I’m still astounded to see what this League has become, and the constant flux of players wanting to join. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing and running the League.
