As mentioned in my previous blogs, next week is the final week for any new members to join the league. Currently, it will take 10 wins to reach the Gold rankings in the B Division (only 8 in the A Division). With only 10 weeks remaining, any new members will be challenged to get those 10 wins over the final 10 weeks. Even playing and winning one match a week will be tough for a new member with the best skills. The minimum number of wins will also presumably rise in these final weeks which will also prove even more challenging for any new members to reach the Gold rankings. Therefore, I am making a few changes in preparation for these final weeks that will benefit the new members as well as everyone else.
First, with two members set to join the league next week (see below), it is a good time to do some 'house cleaning.' There are currenty 5 to 7 members I am preparing to drop or forfeit from the season unless they contact me or make an effort to play their matches by Monday (PSN and emails have been sent to these 7 members). With nearly 60% of the regular season behind us, three members have not played a single match to this point which probably indicates they are not going to play this season (GUY_USER, DIVEKICKSTAR, & LEAHCiM-1vs1). While I have taken a more hands-off approach this season by not nagging members to play their matches, dropping three members who have not really been part of the season is easy. (LEAH, who just joined in Week 11, has contacted me and does intend to begin playing his matches) Two other members (CHAOS_KIWI and SAM95DKM) have said they no longer wish to play this season. CHAOS only played 4 matches this seaosn (won one) while SAM has played 12 matches this season (won two). The rest of their unplayed matches will be forfeited. I do not want to to drop these members completely since they did play a total of 14 matches. Their 3 combined wins will be honored. Finally, two more members (ZENSEM and YFB47) had removed me from their Friends List on the PSN (a clear violation of league rules). I have since sent them another Friends Request, but neither has accepted despite the request been sent 3 to 4 weeks ago. I am prepared to forfeit their remaining matches as well.
Bottom line - the goal with these actions is to make sure the league has members that are actually active. I am not trying to be a 'bad guy' here. Simply trying to make the league stronger by subtraction. It is not only inconsiderate of these members to join the league and then not play, it is also a waste of mine and everybody's elses time. I feel I am failing to do my job as ADMIN of the league if active members are trying to play their matches with the above M.I.A. members. This league is 100% voluntary. If any of the above members wish to stay in the league, simply contact me to avoid being removed. These actions should benefit not only the new members but the existing active members as well.
Unless any new members signs up over the weekend, we will have only 34 active members next week (plus the four inactive forfeited members mentioned above). In the end, we should have a leaner roster with members who want to play. The final 10 weeks should be a mad dash to gain as many wins as possible to qualify for the 3 different SUPER BRAWL IV tournaments. The intent is to have all 48 qualifying fighters in a tournament each has a realistc chance of winning.
Hopefully, with this little bit of 'house cleaning', we can achieve that.
