First off, thank you to all the European members of the SFCCL who “participated” this season. At the beginning of the season, there was no European Region. I did not expect to have much interest from our former European members to include them in season 3. However, shortly after the regular season began in the Americas Region, former European members began lobbying for their own region. Once 15 players signed up, I expanded the league to include the European Region. One player later dropped out, so a total of 16 different players “participated” this season. Unfortunately, despite the push to crate the European Region, the region had the smallest number of matches played with only 66% of the matches scheduled completed. This percentage is aided by the fact that 3 members notified me they were no longer interested in playing, so their matches were simply forfeited instead of left open. No replacements could be found, so those spots simply went dark. The region ended with only12 members out of 15. Nevertheless, thank you for your interest and commitment to the SFCCL.
Friday, December 2nd, 2011, marked the end of the regular season for the European Region. The season began on Friday, July 29th. Eighteen weeks later, the post-season begins. The top 8 fighters from the 2 European Region divisions will now advance to the SUPER BRAWL III tournament. The fighters who did not finish in the top 8 are officially done playing this season. Below are the final standings for the European Region for season three:
As a result of the final standings, the SUPER BRAWL III brackets are generated. The brackets are posted under the SBIII page above.
All SUPER BRAWL III matches are best 2 out of 3 five-round matches, just like the regular season matches. However, the Grand Championship match is best 3 out of 5 five-round matches as previous final SUPER BRAWL matches have been.
There is no time limit for these matches. The members’ fighters who qualified for the tournament are, not coincidently, the most committed members so I expect all matches to be played at a steady pace. However, I do plan to have this tournament complete by the end of the year. Please report all results to me directly via email, PSN message, or forums post. The winning fighter advances to the next round of the tournament while the losing fighter’s season is over.
Despite the problems in the European Region, I hope everyone has enjoyed this past season thus far. I took the time to re-evaluate the percentage of matches played by removing the “bad apples” from the region. While the Americas Region had a total of 4 “bad apples” (defined by playing less than 50% of their matches) out of 30 total members, the European Region had a total of 7 “bad apples” out of 15 members. That number includes the 3 members who forfeited their matches by quitting the league. So basically, half of the region was not playing. Such a sad fact after the push to create the region.
Special thanx to SUBES88 from Finland for being the first and only member to play all 28 matches on his schedule. One pair of matches were forfeited by a member, but SUBES88 proved it was possible to play the other 13 members.
As a result of this fact, I’ve contacted the remaining members of the European Region to let me know by Monday (December 5th) if they are still interested in playing the Super Brawl III tournament. The region has been practically non-existent in the past 3 months. In fact, I’ve only received the results of 2 matches over the past 2 months! Therefore, out of real concern that the tournament matches will also go unplayed, I’ve asked ALL EUROPEAN MEMBERS to contact me by Monday. If they do not, they will forfeit their tournament matches. As long as they contact me by Monday, they can take their time to play these final matches. I hate to take this course of action, but I’m afraid that just sitting back will result in the European Region bracket never being completed.
Bottom line, the tournament should not be held up by members who committed to this season yet have disappeared. It’s rude to me, the league, and your fellow members.
Good luck to all fighters in SUPER BRAWL III!
Previous SUPER BRAWL III Grand Champions:
Super Brawl I: Xenon5100 Blanka (aka Skrface13) from New Jersey, USA
Super Brawl II: Crusader884 Ryu from England
Note, both former grand champions will be playing in SUPER BRAWL III. We could have our first-ever two-time Super Brawl champion!
